Eco-Building Learning Module 5: Building Modelling and Green Rating Tools

This Learning Module makes use of four chapters from the Green Building Handbook Volume 1 as its study text. Students are required to read all four chapters and to take and pass an online open-book test.

After reading the relevant Handbook chapters for the Module, students logon and take an open-book multiple-choice test consisting of 25 questions. Answers are marked by the system and communicated to the student immediately - the pass mark for the Module is 60%. Students that write and pass the test will receive a results confirmation form which will entitle them to redeem 1 x Half Category 1 CPD Credit if applicable. Learning and testing may take place at the convenience of the student and is not timed. The only restriction is that the Certificate Course should be completed within 2 months of registration.

The Eco-Building Learning Modules are designed to provide students with a good knowledge of the specific subject that is tackled in that Module. Open-book testing is an effective way to bring attention to those key issues that need to be absorbed and retained by the student. Each module is presented in a practical format but is supported by academic research from the author. For maximum results certain Learning Modules can be paired/grouped in order to get a greater understanding of the issues relating to built environment sustainability in general.

Students will be credited for Modules that they have passed should they wish to continue on and study the Certificate in Eco-Building or even the Diploma in Eco-Building.

Textbook

The prescribed texts for the Certificate in Eco-Building are the four chapters from the Green Building Handbook Volume 1 which are mentioned below. The Handbook is available for purchase on this website (click here for further information).

Students who do not wish to purchase the handbook may make use of the free chapter downloads that are available for each Module. These downloads are exact pdf prints of the pages required for study in each of the 5 modules.
